May 22, 2015 Eye Appointment

Super thankful to have a 3rd great eye appointment in a row!!!!!

excitement!!!!

The JRA is quiet, meaning no flareups, the vision in the eye has improved- she complained her reading glasses were making things blurry- so no more reading glasses :D And we an wean off the steroid eye drop as well, 1 drop a day for 2 weeks, then 1 drop every other day for 2 weeks and then we see the good Dr again.

The patching is working to strengthen her eye (basically because of the band keratopathy and cataract her brain stopped using that eye, it couldn't see out of it so it made sense for the brain to kinda of ignore it, that's why the eye turned in towards her nose, the muscles got weak) so I had the good Dr remind SP that patching is helping and even as much as she hates it (she really does) she needs to keep at it.

We touched briefly on what we would be talking about next visit, glasses (that's not going to make her happy, but being able to see clearly should!) and yes, unfortunately eye muscle surgery and hey while they're in there might as well clean up that band keratopathy that sneaked back. If her eye inflammation remains quiet the surgery might be before school in the fall, ideal in that she won't miss too much school...we can pretty close to the so-called legal limit this year- which to me is bull because every single absence was medically excused and she has straight A's...I really don't like the idea of more eye surgery, but we are so, so very hopeful this might be it for a long time *fingers, toes, eyes and everything else crossed*

In-between appointments we are just enjoying the beautiful spring weather :) Including SP going to her first baseball game compliments of a reading program at school.
